Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger still believes that his team can come up with a surprising result

Despite having been beaten 3-1 in the first leg against Monaco, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger still believes that his team can come up with a surprising result in the second leg. There have been very few teams who have managed to progress to the next round after losing the first leg 3-1.

Further, Arsenal have the disadvantage of playing away from home. Monaco have been one of the stingiest teams in the French league after allowing only 20 goals from the 28 matches this season. Since the first leg at the Emirates stadium, both teams have undergone different set of fortunes in terms of form.

Arsenal went on to win four straight matches including the 3-0 win over West Ham last weekend. Monaco followed that result with five dropped points in the league, but they have recovered of late with back-to-back victories against Evian and Bastia. The gunners have already been knocked out at this stage of the competition four times in a row. The worrying aspect for Wenger is that in all previous occasions, the opposition were significantly better than Monaco. Manchester City best Performance in Premier League this Season

Manchester City has only lost 3 matches in the Premier League so far and one of those few opponents that they have suffered a defeat against was with Arsenal. Arsene Wenger’s men managed to claim a 2-0 victory after playing in the home soil of Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

This result was a surprising one as Manchester City was expected to win with Sergio Aguero returning from an injury as well as David Silva; both players are the main creative and attacking source but even they failed on making any kind of significant impact on a match that Arsenal somehow managed to maintain in their control and claim the crucial victory.

When the match was over and Arsenal secured all 3 points, Arsene Wenger took the chance to unveil some details concerning the method they used to win the match as the Frenchman said that scoring the first goal in any match is hugely important and his squad was very well organized throughout the entire match.
