DIG DEEP

Arsene Wenger has stated that his team had to dig deep in order to get the 3-1 win over West Ham. The victory has put Arsenal as once again favourites for the top four. The club had been fighting with Everton for this position, but poor form in the last few weeks has let them down.

Everton appeared to be the favourites to finish in the top four after a string of victories including the 3-0 win over Arsenal. The 4-2 win on penalties over Wigan in the FA Cup semi-final appears to have motivated Arsenal once again, as they looked brilliant against West Ham.

As far as winning in the 90 minutes goes, this was the first victory for Arsenal since the 1-0 win over Tottenham in the middle of March. Wenger was extremely pleased after this result, but he said that it was not easy for his club. Matt Jarvis opened the scoring for West Ham, as they look to pile more pressure on their North London rivals.

However, Lukas Podolski scored twice either side of the goal from Olivier Giroud to give Arsenal a victory. In the remaining matches of the season, Arsenal will be coming up against teams from bottom half of the table.

Hence, they will be confident of a top four finish.

“I think we got the victory tonight through the consistency in our game.” he told the engeland italie odds website.  “Even in the first half it was difficult but the vital thing was to come back to 1-1 just before half-time, and after the second half we controlled the game well. Overall it’s a hard-fought win but a very, very important one, and as well a very pleasant one because after Saturday we had to dig deep, and they did that with a great mental response,” said the Frenchman after the match.
